Juan Pablo Ugarte is a designer, educator and researcher. In his research work, Ugarte studies the effects of the built environment in human physiology, behavior, cognition and emotion. As an Experimental Postdoctoral Fellow at the Harvard GSD, he worked with Prof. Martin Bechthold to investigate how "warm" and "cold" material finishes moderate physiological stress responses and affect prosocial behaviors. Ugarte holds a B.Arch from Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile and an M.Arch and Doctor of Design from the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
